Memory Improvement Care

The Memory Improvement (MI) Program at AgeSong senior communities is a carefully designed, structured, program for people with mild-to-moderate memory loss. This daily program can lessen some of the symptoms of memory loss and enhance the overall cognitive functioning of the elderly resident.

Uniqueness
The program's structured classes and engaging group discussions are designed to stimulate memory, slow the progression of forgetfulness, and make life the best it can be for older adults with memory loss.

Services
The following services are provided by Pacific Institute interns and AgeSong caregivers:

  • Each resident enrolled in the MI Program will be initially assessed by a licensed health care professional to define signs and symptoms of memory loss.
  • An individual program will be designed to address each resident's memory loss.
  • The resident has the opportunity to participate in two daily classes.
  • Every six months, each resident's basic cognitive functioning will be reassessed.
  • MI Program Director will work closely with each resident's physician and family members to advise them on the resident's cognitive status.
  • The Program Coordinator will distribute a daily schedule to each resident.
  • Residents will attend specially designed classes to encourage self-esteem and provide mental stimulation.
  • The Program Coordinators, caregivers, and interns will provide oversight with cueing and encouragement throughout the day.
